Chlorine demand gives a good indication of the behaviour of the water in the distribution system, and provides warning for when chlorine levels need to be increased. Chlorine demand is also related to biofilm formation and THM formation potential.

Chlorine demand monitoring is available now using the spectro::lyser to provide continuous, real-time data. By combining the spectro::lyser and the chlori::lyser, both chlorine and chlorine demand can be measured simultaneously in addition to correcting the chlorine readings for cross-sensitivities.
